Work in Progress with Watercolors

This painting is a result from a online workshop taken on WetCanvas, under the figure channel (link here).

The workshop´s objective was to create a fair decent figure painting based on photographies provided by channel moderator, so artists could represent them using their media of choice. Very nice works under these workshops in a great amount of techniques explained.

This is my attempt with watercolors. Bellow you will find my step by step process.

Soaked with water, streched on mdf board, taped.

First color wash, with salt added to create background random textures

Several layers of watercolor added from clearer to darker colors.

Minute details added on her face

Good Memories from Canal St-NYC

Back in 1999, I had the chance to do a backpack trip with my wife to NYC. I have remarkable memories from that trip, specially when we got the chance to visit Pearl Paint at Canal st.

It was like a childhood dream, full of interesting things an artist may look for and so little time :) -thank you Lu, for been so supportive then & now.

A couple of years later, I was on a business trip to Jersey with a friend and knowing he was not into what I call "art supplies fever", I was trying to make it back there during the weekend. He was kindly enough to follow me even knowing I would spend good amount of time inside the store.

Very good memories, indeed...

Windmill principle

While reading James Gurney´s Imaginative Realism book, I decided to give it a try with the windmill principle as explained within this wonderfull book.

All the tonal arrangements explained on this example are absolutely comprehensive and extremely important.
